MoS₂ coating, or Molybdenum Disulfide coating, is a dry-film lubricant designed to reduce friction, wear, and galling between metal surfaces under high load and temperature conditions. It is one of the most effective solid lubricants used in engineering applications, offering excellent performance even in extreme environments where conventional oils and greases fail. The coating consists of fine particles of molybdenum disulfide, suspended in a resin or binder, and applied to surfaces through spraying, dipping, or burnishing methods. Once cured, it forms a thin, smooth, and durable lubricating layer.
MoS₂ coatings are especially suitable for aerospace, automotive, defense, and heavy engineering applications, where low friction and high wear resistance are critical. The coating provides excellent performance under vacuum, high pressure, and wide temperature ranges (typically -185°C to +400°C). Its ability to maintain lubrication without attracting dust or dirt makes it ideal for dry or cleanroom environments.
